What is Veganuary?

Veganuary (pronounced ‘vee-gan-uary’) is a charity that aims to inspire people to try vegan for the month of January and then hopefully throughout the rest of the year. After starting in 2014, its expanded massively and saw more than 500,000 people take part in 2021 (a record-breaking high!).

The charity helps people to try veganism by providing advice on things such as recipe ideas and meal plans, as well as giving advice on where to buy vegan clothes, cosmetics, foods and much more. All this info is shared via their newsletters, website and social media channels.

Since it started, Veganuary has played a world-leading role in inspiring and supporting people to try veganism, with more than 1m people across 192 countries taking part!

Veganuary has some fantastic ambassadors who promote the campaign to a global audience. They include actor Joaquin Phoenix, musical legend Paul McCartney, comedian Sara Pascoe, and TV presenters Chris Packham and Jasmine Harman, to name just a few!

What is Veganuary’s vision and mission?

Veganuary’s vision is simple; they want a vegan world. A world without animal farms and slaughterhouses. A world where food production does not decimate forests, pollute rivers and oceans, exacerbate climate change, and drive wild animal populations to extinction.

Veganuary’s mission is to inspire and support people to try vegan, drive corporate change, and create a global mass movement, championing compassionate food choices with the aim of ending animal farming, protecting the planet and improving human health.

What happens when I sign up to Veganuary?
